(Philadelphia) Several taxi drivers in Philadelphia are on strike after refusing to use GPS and credit card stations in their cabs, Dick Standish reports.
Hailing a cab in the Big Apple is taking a little more effort, with some drivers going on strike. They are protesting new city rules requiring cabs to get a technology upgrade, allowing GPS tracking and payment by credit card. (Sept. 5)

A merchant account is a contract under which an acquiring bank extends a line of credit to a merchant who wishes to accept payment card transactions of a particular card association brand. Without such a contract, one cannot accept payments by any of the major credit card brands.
